WordPress compatibility
“Tested up to” shows the newest WordPress version the developer has checked. A plugin that is several major versions behind may break after a core update — right when guests are trying to book.
Updated weekly
Before you install a booking plugin, check that it still works with the latest WordPress, is actively maintained and has no unpatched security holes. We check the most popular restaurant reservation plugins every week.

“Tested up to” shows the newest WordPress version the developer has checked. A plugin that is several major versions behind may break after a core update — right when guests are trying to book.
Regular releases mean bugs, PHP changes and security reports get fixed. No update for 6+ months is a warning sign; WordPress.org flags plugins not tested with the last 3 major releases.
Every popular plugin gets vulnerability reports. What matters is that they are fixed quickly and that the version you install has no open issues. Always run the latest version.
Some plugins are only a front-end for an external service. If that service shuts down, your booking form stops working — plan the switch early.
It depends on your needs, but start with plugins that are tested with the latest WordPress, updated in the last few months and have no open vulnerabilities. The table above ranks popular plugins on exactly these criteria and is refreshed weekly.
Every week. Each update pulls version, “tested up to”, last update date and ratings from WordPress.org and security data from the WPScan vulnerability database.
GloriaFood has announced that the service ends on 30 April 2027 and no longer accepts new sign-ups, so its WordPress plugin will stop working. If you use it for table bookings, plan a migration before then.
It is the latest WordPress version the plugin developer has confirmed to work. It is set by the developer in the plugin’s readme and shown on WordPress.org.
